Digital Marketing Inc. Competes for Client Door Systems, Inc. in Lee’s Summit Chamber Challenge

May 3, 2016

Digital Marketing Inc. was honored to be asked by Door Systems, Inc. to compete for them in the 2016 Inaugural Chamber Challenge on April 28 hosted by the Lee’s Summit Chamber of Commerce. The first ever Chamber Challenge was an afternoon of team building activities with businesses and organizations in the Lee’s Summit community competing with great sportsmanship. There were six activities that the Digital Marketing Inc. team competed in – Mini Golf, Dodgeball, Volleyball, Capture the Flag Laser Tag, Tug of War, Relays, and Cornhole. Our team scored 22 points out of the possible 42 points available in the challenge.

The Lee’s Summit Chamber Challenge Events

The Digital Marketing Inc. team started the Lee’s Summit Chamber Challenge competing against HSMC in miniature golf who was very generous in giving us shots that were close to the hole without going in!

Next we moved onto dodgeball against the Rotary Club. The game of dodgeball was intense, but our team member Lexi from accounting was able to score the winning shot!

The volleyball station was sponsored by Door Systems, Inc. so our team felt right at home on the sand! We competed against the title sponsors for the Lee’s Summit Chamber Challenge – Unity Village and Awaken Whole Life Center. With some great serving, our team was able to score and win the game.

Next up was capture the flag laser tag against Central Bank who had a full-on strategy to divide and conquer our team. This event was incredibly fun to compete in, even though our team only won one out of the three games! For next year’s Chamber Challenge, we have a game plan in place! After laser tag, our team arrived to the event we were all dreading – tug of war. We played against Google Fiber whose team was made up of incredibly strong people. We lost gallantly and quickly then hung out with the very cool team afterwards.

The relay race was the event our team had been watching and strategizing for all day. We assigned our team members different stations based on their strengths and skills and were ready to face Coffman Associates! Heather, digital project manager, started the relay by carrying three medicine balls of different weights up a large hill before running back down. Cassandra, digital design and text marketing specialist, killed it in the potato sack hop to tag Christian, SEO specialist, in for his two laps around Paradise Park. Next Lexi, accounting, was tagged to fill up a bucket with water using only a styrofoam cup. This part of the relay was some serious cardio and Lexi killed it! After that, Joshua, our new digital specialist, was tagged in to carry a 60 pound heavy bag up and down a hill. After that, Bridget finished the relay up by weaving in and out of traffic cones with an egg on a spoon. Our strategizing paid off and the DMI team won the relay!

We ended the day with a game of cornhole against the LS Dream Team. It was a perfect and relaxing way to end the day where cornhole expert Bill Simpson gave our team some serious points! Afterwards, our team enjoyed the Kansas City BBQ and awards ceremony.

Outside of the teams we played in each challenge, the other Lee’s Summit organizations that competed that day included Lee’s Summit CARES, Weed Man, SMN PC, Corky’s Crew, and CBG. Unity Village and Awaken Whole Life Center were the title sponsors of the event along with the other sponsors, like Door Systems, Inc. Bodies Health and Fitness organized, managed, and judged the challenges.

How DMI Marketed for Door Systems, Inc.

Outside of the fun and games, DMI helped pull the marketing materials together for Door Systems, Inc. to use at the event. We redesigned the brochure explaining the Door Systems, Inc. garage door, entry door, and window offerings using the new branding we created for the long-standing Lee’s Summit business. We also designed the table decor and bought candy for the volleyball station so everyone would receive an extra burst of sugar energy! We also designed the coupon for the exclusive special offer as well as a flyer to hang on the front of the table. Our team sported Lee’s Summit Chamber Challenge t-shirts designed and printed by us as well. The digital team took lots of great photos (as you can see above!) to use on Door Systems, Inc.’s website and social media accounts and we are already planning for next year’s event!
